I was born, raised, and currently live in Anchorage, AK. I live with my boyfriend (of 7 years!) and my four-legged sidekick, Kiva.
I’m sarcastic and often times a pessimist. The phrase "no good deed goes unpunished" is generally my mantra. I cry when I laugh. At any given time, I am probably wearing at least one article of wool clothing and I generally put something down on before I go outside (except during the three months we have summer here, then I mourn the loss of my down clothing).
I overuse ellipses and parenthetical expressions and I am a firm believer in the serial comma. I’m a complete snob when it comes to coffee and I’m obsessed with cheese (you can generally find at least three different kinds in my fridge at any given time). My feet are always cold, which I hate, but I can’t sleep if they’re hot.
I have two degrees…one completely useless from a reputable institution (a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Washington), and one very useful from an insignificant institution (B.S. in Nursing from the University of Alaska Anchorage). I am currently working on my master's through the University of Cincinnati's distance learning program, when I am done I will be a Family Nurse Practitioner.
I worked as an RN in the Labor & Delivery unit of the biggest hospital in the state for five years where I learned that the babies always win. I don't like to lose so I recently started work in a family practice office.
When I'm not working or writing blog posts you can find usually find me running half marathons and knitting --though not at the same time. Don't run with needles.
