Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.”
-Mother Teresa
Yesterday was quite the day.
My morning began with unexpectedly helping a good friend welcome her baby into the world. Yes, I know it's my job to help people welcome their babies...but this baby came two months early! It's funny how everything happens for a reason, turns out he was in a rather precarious situation on the inside and it's good that we got him out safely. Although it will still be a long road for baby, both mom and baby are doing great!
I also got to see Amanda today. She came down to see us before she heads off to Boston (she's going to an amazing outpatient rehab program near where her family is). Let me tell you, it's one thing to hear about all the amazing things a person is doing and a completely different thing to see (and talk to) the evidence for yourself.
She was talking to all of us, and obviously she knew that she knew us, but it was hard to tell if she really knew who we were or just knew that she knew us. I sent her a text message after she left us that said it was so good to see her and wishing her a safe trip and she responded with "it was amazing to see you working a day shift." Not only did she know who I was, but she knew that I usually work nights. Freaking awesome!
She still has a long and challenging road ahead of her, but she's got the right attitude and tons of support to help her through.
After a crazy, emotional roller coaster of a day, I came home to a wiggly dog and no boyfriend (he was in Seward for the first official ship day of the season and then headed to Whittier), and ate this for dinner...
Bacon, roasted cabbage, and a quesadilla. Random (but quick and easy).
