I am not ashamed to admit that I am a coffee snob...however, I'm not above making my own coffee so it tastes the way I want it to! A couple of years ago I got an espresso machine so I could save money. I love my morning (or afternoon) Americano, but was getting tired of having to leave the house for one (and the $1.75, now $2, price tag). Enter the espresso machine. It's useful and has probably already paid for itself.
Lately I have been drinking cold coffee. Not because it's hot outside, but because I apparently have hot flashes when I get up now and drinking hot coffee does not sound appealing when you break a sweat by walking down the stairs.
Over the last few weeks, I have pefected my iced latte recipe.
Fill your glass 3/4 of the way up with cold milk, or milk-like beverage of choice (lately I have been using Blue Diamond's Almond Coconut milk or just plain unsweetened coconut milk...yum!). Add coffee and fill whatever remaining space in your glass with ice. Enjoy. If you want to add sweetener, go for it! I use a couple of drops of stevia, but don't need any when I use all coconut milk.
If you don't have an espresso machine and you still want to enjoy delicious iced coffee, here's an easy recipe for cold brewed coffee from the folks at 1 Cup Awesome.
Happy coffee drinking!
